The first impression of the game was boring, and not fun. Especially when they are forced, and not optional. Although I could technically fish/catch bugs, I would have to build my tools about 7 times each hour I played. I have played the game about 10-15 times (1-2 hour sessions) and the only thing I was able to do was find pieces of wood and iron. I got New Horizons at launch, and I still haven't unlocked terraforming yet. A lot of people thinks it’s a great game and I think it is too. Anyways, sorry for my long rant, don’t even know if this is the place to post my opinions but, here ya go! Edit: Just wanted to clarify that I am not trying to bash New Horizons. It feels more like a video game than a relaxing sim. I do understand that New Horizons hasn’t been updated, but even the fresh new game just feels too different. New isn’t bad, but here it just didn’t feel innovative. New Leaf has such a niceness to it and relaxing feeling while New Horizons is flooded with chores and new complicated systems. The Nook Phone thing and the new additions just don’t hit home for me. It feels more like an escape from the crazy world we live in while New Horizons just feels like a simulation of this world. New Leaf just has this certain charm and vibe to it that New Horizons simply doesn’t. I got Animal Crossing: New Horizons a day before I bought New Leaf, and honestly, New Leaf made me want to play it.
